The Minister Profile

Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swaray is Sierra Leone’s Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security. Born in Pujehun, he grew up in Kenema where he attended the

Islamic Secondary School from 1983-1989. He did his advanced level examinations at the Bo Government Secondary School.

In 1991, he proceeded to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and read

English and Political science graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. He also holds an MBA from the University of Westminster Business School in London, United Kingdom.

He has wealth of senior management experience in various fields including the aviation, mining, ports and transport sectors spanning over two decades. He was the country’s Minister of Information and Communication before his re-assignment in July 2023.

Before becoming the Information Minister of Sierra Leone, Mr. Swaray was a freelance Organizational Development and Human Resources Consultant and he played key roles as Head of Media for the Julius Maada Bio presidential campaign before the 2018 general elections.

The Minister is a senior member of the International Public Relations Association

(IPRA) and a Certified Crisis Communications Expert.
